When to call

Call 999 when you need the police immediately — the situation is happening now or someone is in danger.

• Crimes in progress (theft with violence, assault, robbery, burglary)
• Serious road accidents, especially with injuries or hit-and-run
• Threats to life, harassment that escalates, or a weapon involved
• Missing persons in immediate danger, child safety concerns
• Suspicious packages or behaviour that could indicate terrorism

What to do while on the line

• Stay calm. The operator may ask for your exact location, landmark, and emirate.
• Give a short, clear description: what happened, how many people are involved, and if anyone is injured.
• Do not hang up until the operator tells you to. Follow their instructions.
• If it is safe, move to a secure place and keep others away from danger.

What happens next

• →A police patrol may be dispatched to your location.
